Polly Raynes, Hacketts, Sat & Sun
Polly Raynes grew up in the West Country loving landscape, seascape and rocky retreats. She sailed and raced around Torbay and across the Channel, often accompanied by porpoise or dolphin, she enjoys snorkeling in waters both home and abroad. Polly studied at Brighton Art College obtaining a First Class B A Hons. She began her career as an illustrator working in publishing, television, design and advertising. Light and colour form the basis of Polly’s compositions: it defines the structure, from which calm or dynamism, power or movement of a particular subject can be expressed.
She has taught at Brighton and Eastbourne Art Facilities and has written and illustrated two art instruction books:
Watercolour Work Station.
Drawing and Painting Plants and Flowers.
She has also exhibited in galleries across England as well as Zambia, France and Italy. Polly’s love of travel has taken her across from Europe to Central Africa. African wildlife has been a regular theme in her work and she has exhibited regularly at the Medici Gallery, raising money for the Born Free Foundation with support from Joanna Lumley.
