Lyn Fryer, Ash House, Sat & Sun
Textile and leather designer Lyn Fryer, who lives at Ash House (Venue 31), will be showing her collection of handmade leather bags and quilts. Working with both new and upcycled leather and fabric, Lyn creates colourful items which are unique and purposeful.
Lyn has been sewing since she was a child. Now retired after a career in Education, she now has the opportunity to indulge fully in her passion for creating decorative but practical items in leather and fabric. She has her own fully equipped workshop where she makes leather and fabric bags and bespoke quilts.
She is fascinated by the character of different textiles. She loves working with bright colours, especially for quilts, and exploring different colour combinations to create original leather and fabric bags. Her collection of homemade leather bags has continued to evolve over the last 5 years. The leather always determines the style and structure of the bag; for thicker leathers, the more structured look of the tote bag, the rucksack and hand stitched items, for finer leathers, the hobo style or drawstring. Every piece of leather, whether pristine or recycled from a sofa or jacket, presents a design challenge and one where she feels she is constantly learning.
Lyn has shown her work at many craft fairs locally and regularly take commissions for leather bags and quilts.
