ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Festival began its life as a village event in 2000 as part of the Millenium celebrations. The event has changed in size and in character over the years, but its main purpose is still to celebrate and promote the community and culture of the West Sussex village of Henfield. It does this through the good graces of Henfield residents who open their gardens to the general public for the second weekend in June, invite artists to display and sell their work, and invite musicians to perform freely for the festival-goers. In addition to the opening of private gardens, other events taking place in that weekend will be listed in brief in the Festival booklet and - more fully - on the website. Entrance to all gardens is free, as are all artistic displays and musical performances. Garden hosts may wish to support a charity of their choice as part of the Festival, and festival-goers are free to contribute to those charities if they wish.
